Luxury in a Life Organized

Your house is dusted, vacuumed, things are put away, and even the laundry is folded. You are proud to invite friends over because you have beautiful furniture and expensive curtains. Your evening rituals involve putting away the kid's toys and emptying the dishwasher. You never feel right starting the week on Monday morning without clearing counters and taking care of loose mail on Sunday night. You consider yourself above average on house maintenance and overall cleanliness.

I take pride in these same principles. I personally feel more complete and in control when things within my home are organized. It wasn't until I took a look in the junk drawer, under the bed, storage in the basement, within closet doors, and in the garage that I took my organization to the next level and felt a new sense of control I hadn't before.

Understanding the discipline of organization is something that people don't care about, don't have the energy for, and don't have the time for.

It involves throwing things away, letting go, digging up memories of the past, parting with sentimental items, and coming to terms with yourself and why you hide a mess in various parts of your house that no one sees.

Maybe it's not the "mess" that is the problem, maybe it's shear volume of pictures up on the top shelf of your closet. Maybe it's crafting materials that you use on a daily basis but just don't know what to do with 50 rolls of ribbon. Maybe you love each and every one of your pairs of shoes but stuffing them under your bed doesn't seem like the right solution. Whatever your situation may be, there is a right solution, and it can be organized.

We all have the responsibility to organize our homes. To go beyond the mere cleaning and "tidying" up around the house and be in control of our belongings and not the other way around. We can't take items to the grave and our children are the ones who have the burden of inheriting things they do not want yet have to deal with after we are gone.

Learning and growing is a part of a responsible and respectable life. Organization is a discipline that we can all master and be better for. Find the luxury in an organized life. Not a luxury that money can buy, but a luxury you live free from the burden of material things that out number you, scare you, and intimidate you.

From one too many pens, to a pile of magazines, to a whole basement of mystery boxes, we all have our starting point and our end goal. Seek help, ask questions, follow my blog, and make organization a personal mission.
